Kathy Warnick

Payroll Manager
Florida Virtual School

There is no more important organizational function than paying the salaries of employees with regularity and precision.  There is no more important attribute of an effective payroll manager than paying attention to the details. And for payroll manager Kathy Warnick, doing it with enthusiasm is the best way for ensuring that the numbers come out right.

Deadlines are the relentless reality for every payroll manager.  For Ms. Warnick, the challenging demands of her job are answered by a high level of energy, and a commitment for addressing the real needs of fellow employees. The greater the challenge, the greater is her personal satisfaction in doing the job well.

Before moving to Florida, she served as a payroll supervisor for a Southern California public utility. Because of the utility’s size, its 12,000 employees, and its multiple subsidiary companies, Ms. Warnick’s challenges were many and diverse. Prior to that, she managed the utility’s short-term liquidity portfolio, making daily investments that totaled as much as $750 million.

The opportunity to begin a new challenge was among Ms. Warnick’s reasons for joining the Florida Virtual School management team.  Her new position as payroll manager reflects her school’s dynamic growth.  The decision to make payroll an in-house function reflects her school’s desire for a personal connection with its employees.  Ms. Warnick’s knowledge of payroll laws, benefits and human resources makes her the ideal person for taking her school’s payroll function to the next level.

Ms. Warnick earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University.  She holds a Certified Payroll Professional certification in Payroll Administration and Compliance, awarded in 2006 by the American Payroll Association.
