Computing for College & Careers Florida Virtual School
Excitement for learning is an important lesson experienced by every student in every class taught by Tara Crawford. That is because excitement for teaching has been a hallmark of her career. When Mrs. Crawford’s students share that excitement with their teacher, learning becomes an adventure they value for a lifetime.
Mrs. Crawford’s approach to teaching involves making her subject relevant and creative. In her classes, interesting assignments are fun assignments. Her students acquire skills that are essential for success in school and on the job. Ms. Crawford’s love of computers is based on an understanding of what technology can do. Her love for students is based on respect for their individual ability to achieve their individual goals.
Mrs. Crawford has taught computer-related courses at three different high schools in Hillsborough County, Florida. At Durant High School, she received a Best Buy Teach Award for an original lesson plan involving the use of Microsoft PowerPoint software. Also at Durant, she involved her students in fundraising activities to support the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Crawford’s decision to join the Florida Virtual School faculty was, in part, motivated by her interest in technology-based instructional delivery systems. She believes that a student-centered, self-paced learning environment creates a feeling of excitement that supports real learning.
Mrs. Crawford earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from the University of South Florida.
