Dear Florida Virtual School parents,
As you may have already heard, I announced my retirement from Florida Virtual School (FLVS) on Feb. 5, 2014. I want to personally thank you for joining me on this journey, believing in FLVS and trusting us with your children.
After serving 17 years as president and CEO of FLVS and with more than 30 years in public education, I believe we have shown the world that if you put the student at the center of your decisions, provide them with a teacher who meets them where they are, and work tirelessly to take them where they need to be, educational miracles do happen. Together, we have made a significant impact on our state’s education system and huge strides toward transforming education worldwide, one student at a time.
The FLVS Board of Trustees has already begun the process to conduct a national search for the next FLVS president and CEO. I want to assure you that the Board is focused on identifying an experienced leader and innovator who embodies the values of FLVS and can help guide the organization into the next stage of technology-based education. FLVS is very pleased to have Ronald Blocker, former superintendent of Orange County Public Schools, as its Interim President and CEO.
Florida Virtual School has truly been one of the greatest joys of my life—more than I could have ever imagined. Thank you for the privilege and honor to serve alongside you and work for you.
