Instructional Internships

The demand for online education is rapidly growing and FLVS' clinical experiences program is the most innovative program in existence, which is able to meet that demand. There is no other place where education majors can be fully immersed in an online classroom and receive such high quality preparation.

An internship opportunity at FLVS:

  • are only available to students actively enrolled in an education degree program which requires an instructional internship for graduation
  • is a non-paid position and does not guarantee future employment with FLVS
  • satisfies the Florida state requirement for certification

Prospective Interns should have their school’s Clinical Experiences Director contact FLVS prior to establishing an Internship placement.

In order to maintain compliance per the Jessica Lunsford Act of Florida, each Intern will be required to complete a background clearance/fingerprint specifically for FLVS. Each prospective intern will be responsible for scheduling and payment of the services. FLVS cannot accept results or fingerprints from another company, district or organization.

Level I instructional interns (Juniors and EPI students) work with certified FLVS Clinical Educators for approximately 7 weeks, and average 16 hours of experience per week. Working from home and mirroring the flexible schedule of our instructors provides the perfect environment for interns to observe best practices for assessment, feedback, and monitoring student progress. FLVS instructors lead Level I interns through effective teaching strategies in an online environment, and provide opportunities to create and implement a lesson to FLVS students and perform light grading.

Level II instructional interns (Seniors) work with certified FLVS Clinical Educators for approximately 15 weeks, 40 hours per week. Working from home and mirroring the flexible schedule of our instructors provides the perfect environment for interns to observe best practices for assessment, feedback, and monitoring student progress. FLVS instructors lead Level I interns through effective teaching strategies in an online environment. With access to FLVS technologies – Educator, Blackboard Collaborate, Skype and Lync – Level II interns have the opportunity to take over at least one full segment of instruction. During their segment(s), interns assume responsibility for grading, daily contact with students and parents, creating and implementing lessons, and attending all meetings with their FLVS instructor.
