How it works

How It Works

Our courses are based on the Florida State Standards and taught by certified teachers who provide personalized instruction and 1:1 support in the online classroom and via phone, email, and text. During interactive live video lessons, students receive direct instruction, collaborate with classmates, and participate in activities. With an online curriculum that powers learning with real-life applications, FLVS courses provide engaging and interactive content, encouraging mastery before moving forward.

Designed for those who may need more flexibility, more of a challenge, or who may perform better outside of a traditional classroom, FLVS gives students the freedom to follow their own unique path to learning through a variety of flexible and full-time options.

Our Curriculum

FLVS middle school curriculum includes a variety of core, world language, elective, and advanced courses. Explore our M/J (middle/junior high) courses below to learn more.

Student Clubs & Activities

Student Clubs & Activities

FLVS offers more than 20 middle school clubs and organized student activities that meet both online and face to face. These extracurricular opportunities are available to all FLVS students and can round out the academic experience by helping students prepare for the future. Students can research topics of interest for the Virtual Science Fair, explore computer programming in Coding Club, or learn about print and video production with our middle school student publications and broadcasts.

In our clubs, students meet online to plan events, collaborate on projects, play games, hear from guest speakers, and more. Our clubs allow students to develop leadership skills, engage in community service opportunities, and in some cases, even attend in-person gatherings or academic competitions. Throughout the year, our teachers and staff host special events and celebrations for students, including Celebrate Literacy Week, World Fest, Spirit Week, and more.
