Coding Club is a place for students of all skill levels. The club meets on the second Tuesday monthly at 5 PM Eastern in Zoom. All club activities are extracurricular and should be done after schoolwork is completed. The agenda for monthly meetings is typically:

The French Honor Society, Société Honoraire de Français, is a prestigious honorary society that promotes outstanding academic achievement in the French language and culture. Members will be able to participate in Congrès, they will plan activities for National French week, World Fest, and Black History Month, as well as activities throughout the year to promote the French language and culture.

• FLVS Flex and Full Time 9th-12th graders with at least a 3.0 OVERALL GPA and an A average in French.
• Students should be currently enrolled in segment 2 of French 2 or a higher level ( 3, 4, or 5) in FLVS Full Time or Flex programs.
• The student will need to attend 80% of the monthly meetings to remain active in the Society.

SNN-Sharks News Network T.V. Journalism Club

SNN T.V. Journalism Club consists of 16 fifth-grade students who work well together to create and submit interest segments for a weekly Nearpod that is shared with the participants of SNN while waiting for the Morning Announcements to begin. Our crew submits segments for a pre-show Nearpod that teaches participants how to skateboard, make yummy smoothies, book and movie reviews and so much more! You will also have the opportunity to create special segment slides that relate to special days celebrated throughout the year. SNN Journalism members take pride in their ability to demonstrate leadership skills through teamwork and a positive growth mindset. SNN Journalism students should enjoy writing and computer/technology skills that include the use of Google Slides/Nearpod and typing.

The FLVS Junior Classical League (Latin Club) is open to all students who enroll in Latin. All Latin students are encouraged to join! Members have the opportunity to compete on the regional and state levels against students from all over Florida. The JCL provides leadership and scholarship opportunities on local, state, and national levels. There are four national tests and live documentary session given each month for interested students. By joining the FLVS JCL, students automatically become part of the National Junior Classical League. There are over 50,000 members in approximately 1,200 chapters, located in almost every state and in several foreign countries. Established in 1936, the organization seeks to promote the study of Latin and Greek, to benefit students and teachers alike, and to impart an understanding of the debt of our own culture to that of classical antiquity. All students are welcome to participate in Latin Club, but please note that some activities, such as the National Latin Exam and regional/state competitions, are restricted to students who are taking/have taken a Latin course.

The only online chapter of the National English Honor Society, the FLVS Cyber Scholar Chapter, consists of sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have completed English 1 with an A, who have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, and, of course, have a love for English/Language Arts! Our club is open to both the FLVS Flex and Full-Time Students. Members of NEHS have served as tutors in the English tutor room, which is available to FLVS English and Language Arts students. The club has also hosted in the past several online book discussions, the African American Read In, the Poetry Slam, FLVS Shakespeare Week and other fun events throughout the year. Florida Virtual High School - Grades 10-12 - By Invitation ONLY

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization, established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. It is estimated that more than one million students participate in activities of NHS and there are chapters in all 50 states, as well as many US territories. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

Stoles:

Graduating NHS members will receive a gold stole with the NHS embroidered logo.

Application Requirements:

• NHS is for eligible 10-12 Graders Only that have been enrolled with Florida Virtual High School (Full Time) for at least 1 semester.
• NHS is an invitation only student club. Students who meet the GPA and enrollment requirements will receive an invitation to apply in mid-January.

  • $25.00 annual dues for National Membership.

• There will be an annual induction for students who are selected during the application process.
• The next round of qualification emails will be sent out in January 2025

Membership Requirements:

• Invite only at this time. Invitations will be sent out to FVMS students in grades 7-8 that meet all requirements.
• Students in grades 7–8 with the FLVS Full-Time Middle School who meet the requirements for membership outlined by their school's chapter are eligible for membership (for example: minimum 3.2 GPA, no Academic Integrity incidents, strong character, leadership potential).
• Students must be enrolled with the FLVS Full Time Middle School for at least two full semesters. (FLEX students do not meet the NJHS national requirements for membership).

The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is an honor society sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. SNN-Sharks News Network T.V. Production Team

SNN T.V. Production Club consists of 16 fifth-grade students who work together weekly to broadcast the morning announcements to the Florida Virtual Elementary school house every Monday and Wednesday morning. They meet every Friday as a club to go over slides for the upcoming week. SNN crew members are the face of the Florida Virtual Elementary School and take pride in their ability to demonstrate leadership skills through teamwork and a positive growth mindset.

Fall Application Process:

1. Obtain a letter of recommendation from a former instructor or a community member explaining why you should be on SNN. Have them email it with your full name directly to Mrs. Bass at [email protected].
