Discussion Based Assessments (DBA)
Discussion Based Assessments (DBA)
Discussion-Based Assessments (DBAs) are conducted on a regular basis by all teachers. DBAs are a one-to-one conversation to make sure that the student understands the course material. Students are required to complete and pass all Discussion-Based Assessments themselves, free from any distraction or influence of others.
Tips for Success
- Make sure all assignments required prior to the DBA are completed.
- Organize your notes so you can easily find what you are looking for. DBAs are open notes.
- Check the Module resources/help center resources.
- Do you have any questions? A DBA is a great time to ask questions. Is there a concept you would like to understand before the module exam?
- Schedule ahead. Setting a time will prevent phone-tag and make it easier to prepare.
- When you’re ready for your DBA, find a quiet space with minimal distractions.
- Review the DBA rubric, if available.
- Review any study guides and resources, if available.
