Meet the 2023-24 FLVS Foundation’s Scholarship Winners
By: Kathryn Hodgins, Content and Public Relations Specialist, Florida Virtual School
This year, the FLVS Foundation awarded scholarships to four Florida Virtual High School students in recognition of their outstanding achievements and inspiring personal journeys. We’re excited to spotlight these scholarship winners, all of whom will be embarking on the next chapter of their education career at either two or four-year colleges and universities.
These students serve as shining examples of what can be accomplished through hard work, perseverance, and leadership. Congratulations to them and to all of the #FVHSClassof2024 graduates!
The Camille Gaudier Education Scholarship
The Camille Gaudier Education Scholarship commemorates the dedication of a beloved FLVS elementary teacher, Mrs. Gaudier, who poured her heart into teaching and caring for her students. In her honor, this FLVS Foundation scholarship aims to support students whose passions drive them toward educational pursuits and success.
The 2023-24 Camille Gaudier Education Scholarship Winner: Max Walker
Max Walker discovered her love for law and legal studies while taking the Law Studies course at FLVS. The course was a transformative experience for her, inspiring her to pursue a career in education and share her knowledge and passion for law to inspire future generations of students.
Max will attend Nova Southeastern University next year to pursue a Bachelor of Law degree. She plans to attend law school with the ultimate goal of entering the education field and mentoring future leaders of the legal profession.
“I believe that education is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about building character, developing critical thinking skills, and nurturing a lifelong love of learning,” said Max. “By sharing my knowledge and experience, I hope to instill in my students a passion for law and a desire to make a positive difference in the world.”

Emily De Los Reyes
Emily De Los Reyes has always enjoyed writing and was an active member of the National English Honor Society, participating in the annual Shakespeare Week. She will take this love of reading and writing and attend The Honors College at Miami Dade College next year, where she plans to major in Mass Communications/Journalism. Emily aims to share stories with the public and inform them with truth and integrity, striving to populate the news with unbiased and accurate reporting.
Oluwatomi Deen
Oluwatomi Deen received life-changing advice to participate in clubs and organizations or engage in volunteer work to ensure she socialized while at FLVS. She embraced these recommendations and, after looking at the 80+ online clubs and activities FLVS offers, she chose to join the Black Student Union and Cooking Club, as well as volunteer at non-profits and at her local library. These experiences allowed her to build positive relationships which in turn fostered her academic success. Taking on leadership roles, Oluwatomi developed collaboration skills and became more confident in representing concerns and creating a supportive community for others.
The leadership skills will aid her in achieving her ultimate goal of making an impact in the food or lifestyle industry. Oluwatomi will attend Florida International University next year to major in Business Management and plans to pursue a master’s degree.
Travis Rodriguez
Known as the go-to person for tech assistance among his friends and family, Travis Rodriguez has loved working with technology for most of his life. He utilized his tech knowledge to start an online organization for a video game he enjoys. After creating the online organization, we spent time drafting founding documents and rules, establishing two ranking systems for members, and leading several events. Travis will take this passion for tech to the University of Central Florida (UCF), where he will major in Computer Science. Impressively, he heads to UCF with over 40 college credits earned through dual enrollment classes.
As we celebrate these outstanding individuals, we recognize their hard work, dedication, and the bright future ahead of them. Congratulations once again to the FLVS Foundation scholarship winners and the entire #FVHSClassof2024!
