Florida Virtual School Assistant Principal Kaleigh McCoy Named a 2026 K-12 Dive Rising Leader

Florida Virtual High School Assistant Principal Kaleigh McCoy was named a 2026 K-12 Dive Rising Leader for her contributions to AICE programs, career and technical education, and student achievement in Florida.

Florida Virtual School (FLVS) Assistant Principal Kaleigh McCoy has been named a 2026 K-12 Dive Rising Leader, a national honor recognizing emerging education leaders who are driving innovation and delivering measurable results for students.

McCoy, who is from Winter Haven, Fla, was recognized for expanding access to advanced academics and career-focused learning at Florida Virtual High School, helping more students earn college credit, industry certifications, and workforce-ready skills.

“The future of education is creating pathways that connect learning to opportunity,” McCoy said. “Whether students choose college, the workforce, or both, our goal is to ensure they graduate with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.”

Drawing on her experience as a teacher, school counselor, and administrator, McCoy has strengthened systems and support for both students and staff and has been a valued member of the Florida Virtual School leadership team since 2022. 

Under McCoy's leadership, student acceleration rates increased 10%, while Career and Technical Education enrollment grew from 946 to 3,113 students over two school years. During the same period, industry certifications earned by students rose from 34 to 946.

“Kaleigh is a visionary leader who consistently puts students at the center of every decision,” said Suzanna Pacheco, principal of Florida Virtual High School. “Her ability to turn data into action, build high-performing teams, and expand opportunities for students has had a measurable impact across our school district.”

This recognition comes as Florida Virtual High School continues to demonstrate strong student outcomes. Nearly 1,500 students graduated in 2026, marking the largest graduating class in the school's history, while 56% earned academic distinction with grade point averages above 3.5.
