  • The FLVS Foundations of Programming course was the recipient of the 2017 SIIA CODiE Award for Best Coding & Computational Thinking Solution category. The curriculum was demonstrated to the CODiE judges by Heather Reingold and Michael Frances. Robert Blaydes attended the celebratory event in San Francisco on July 25th and accepted the award on behalf of FLVS.

  • FLVS won an American Advertising Award2nd place Telly Bronze Award for the I AM FLVS spot. The Telly Awards is the premier award honoring the best in TV and Cable, Digital and Streaming, and Non-Broadcast Productions. The Telly Awards receives more than 13,000 entries yearly from all 50 states and 5 continents.
  • FLVS won an American Advertising Award, 2nd place Communicator Award for the I AM FLVS spot. The Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program recognizing big ideas in marketing and communications. The Communicator Awards receives more than 6,000 entries from companies and agencies of all sizes, making it one of the largest awards of its kind in the world. 
  • Dr. Jodi Marshall is the recipient of the Florida Diversity Council Multicultural Leadership Award. Dr. Marshall received the award as she has consistently demonstrated leadership excellence through her sustained record of accomplishments and contributions throughout her career, and her commitment to the highest ethical standards. The award was presented on April 12, 2017, in Orlando, Florida at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel.
  • FLVS Teacher of the Year Lisa Ullmann was one of five recipients recently honored by the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) with the world's most prestigious distance learning award presented for excellence in distance learning. USDLA presented its 2017 International Distance Learning Award to Lisa for the Excellence in Teaching/Training category. Lisa attended the award event held in Indianapolis, IN. on May 1, 2017.
  • Dame Dhyana Ziegler, Chair of Board of Trustees, Florida Virtual School, received an Onyx Magazine, “Women on the Move” Award. Women on the Move celebrates trailblazers who make a difference in their communities by shattering glass ceilings, achieving their full potential and paving the way for others.
  • Dr. Jodi Marshall won the Florida Diversity Council Glass Ceiling Award. The award recognizes and celebrates accomplished women who have overcome barriers to advance in their careers. The award honors women who have not only achieved personal success but have made it possible for others to more easily follow in their foot steps. Dr. Marshall was honored at the annual Florida Women’s conference on January 18th, 2017, in Fort Lauderdale. FL.


  • FLVS and Sarah Sprinkel, Principal, FLVS Elementary School won a Community Choice Award with the elementary school video entry submitted to the eSchool News contest.   • Jason Odom, Instructional Leader, and Wilbern Simpson, Assistant Principal were among eight educators recognized by Governor Rick Scott in Tallahassee Florida. The Governor’s Shine Award is presented to teachers and administrators in Florida who make significant contributions to the field of education. 
  • Quality Matters (QM), a leader in quality assurance for online education, selected FLVS as a recipient of the “Making a Difference for Students” award in the “Outstanding Impact by an Organization,” category. FLVS Manager, Crystal Guiler, National Curriculum Products, accepted the award on behalf of FLVS at the 8th Annual Quality Matters Conference in Portland, Oregon.
  • FLVS was given the 2016 Tech and Learning Award for our FLVS Unlock Content tool. The award recognized innovative products, applications, or software that add significant enhancements to education tools. Unlock is a product of the Innovative Customer Evolution Team.
  • FLVS won the Platinum Learning Impact Award for the FLVS Unlock Content Tool, a next-generation vision of what FLVS can do to empower teachers to serve students using the best-of-class content of FLVS. The award recognizes the most powerful and influential uses of technology worldwide in support of learning worldwide. Learning Impact Awards recognize both the product/service involved as well as the implementing institution as both collaborate to effectively leverage technology to create a positive "learning impact."  
  • FLVS honored with one of the 2016 When Work Works Awards as a worksite that distinguishes itself as a leading employer of choice by demonstrating success in using flexibility as part of an effective workplace strategy to achieve business goals.
  • Anne Flenner, FLVS School Counselor, was named one of the 2016 Coca-Cola Foundation Educators of Distinction. One of 250 educators across the country, The Coca-Cola Educator of Distinction Award represents the noble and heartfelt dedication of the educators who win since recipients are nominated by a student.
  • FLVS was named a Learning! 100 Award winner! by Elearning! Media Group for its learning culture, innovation, and high performance. FLVS received the award for its virtual high school curriculum. The award recognizes 60 corporate and 40 public sector organizations that drive performance through learning.
  • FLVS Marketing & Communications team received the 2016 SUNSPRA Sunshine Medallion Award for the "2015-16 Florida Virtual School Course Catalog" in the Special Purpose Publication category.  Exclusively sponsored by School Messenger®, first-place awards honor a commitment to communications excellence. 
  • FLVS was selected as one of Orlando Business Journal’s (OBJ) 2016 Technology IQ Award honorees recognizing Central Florida individuals and companies that embrace technology in innovative ways that positively affect both the top and bottom lines.
  • Nikki Callaghan, District ESE Administrator, received the first-ever Florida CASE Rookie ESE Administrator of the Year Award. The award recognizes exemplary work ethic and performance, commitment, and dedication to furthering the work of special education and administrators who make a difference in the lives of students with disabilities and their families.

Although the top award was given to NASA's Center for Distance Learning, FLVS was honored to be included as one of the top 3 finalists in the nation for the award and to be named beside such prestigious organizations as NASA.
