Description
In the Physical Education Grade 5 course, students will learn more complex motor skills through throwing, catching, kicking, striking, dancing, swimming, and gymnastics. Students will get creative using new ways to improve their skills and meet their fitness goals. They will understand the importance of overall wellness through creating meal plans and workouts and staying positive by exhibiting teamwork and sportsmanship. This course will also discuss how students can use technology to track their fitness.

Students will need the following materials: printer, cell phone or scanner, notebook, pencils, erasers, scissors, crayons, glue, tape, ruler, printer paper, colored-paper, fitness items, household objects, general art supplies, and outdoor materials.
Besides engaging students in challenging curriculum, the course guides students to reflect on their learning and evaluate their progress through a variety of assessments. Assessments can be in the form of practice lessons, multiple choice questions, writing assignments, projects, oral assessments, and discussions. Core courses will use the state-approved grading scale and Special Area courses will use an S or U grading scale.
