Florida Scholars Academy Names Cody Tempest 2026 Teacher of the Year
Cody Tempest has been named the 2026 Teacher of the Year for Florida Scholars Academy (FSA) for his dedication and passion for helping at-risk youth. The FSA, which is operated by Florida Virtual School, serves students in the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice’s (DJJ) residential commitment program.

Enrollment for Florida Virtual Full Time Public Schools now open for second semester
Updated Nov. 12, 2024: As families continue to evaluate their education options for second semester, Florida Virtual School (FLVS) has extended the application deadline for the full time option for students in grades K-8 to Nov. 22. The deadline is Nov. 15 for students in ninth through 12th grades.

Florida Virtual School Recognized as One of America’s Best-In-State Employers 2024 by Forbes
For the second year in a row, Florida Virtual School (FLVS) has been named on the Forbes list of America’s Best-In-State Employers 2024 for Florida. The Forbes list is based primarily on an independent survey of more than 160,000 employees working for companies with at least 500 employees within the United States. The ranking is open to companies from all industry sectors. About 4.4 million employer evaluations were considered.

Florida Virtual School Places Among Top School Districts in the State for Progress Monitoring and End-of-Course Assessments
Florida Virtual School (FLVS) full time students placed among the best in the state on the Florida Assessments of Student Thinking (FAST) progress monitoring and End-of-Course (EOC) assessments for 2023-24 school year. These scores place FLVS Full Time Public Schools in the top 10 non-lab school districts in the state for all core subject areas, which include English Language Arts (ELA), U.S. History, Biology 1, Algebra 1, and Civics.

Florida Virtual Full Time Public Schools - Application Deadline Extended
As families continue to evaluate their education options for the upcoming school year, Florida Virtual School (FLVS) has extended the application deadline for the full time option. The deadline is July 19 for students in ninth through 12th grades. The deadline for students in kindergarten through eighth grades is July 26.

Florida Scholars Academy Celebrates the Launch of the New Unified Education System for Juvenile Justice Youth
On Monday, July 1, the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and Florida Virtual School (FLVS) announced that the Florida Scholars Academy (FSA), the new unified education system for DJJ students, is operational across Florida. The partnership between DJJ and FLVS will now provide in-person instruction for students within all 38 DJJ residential commitment programs.
